He was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on November 17, 1912 to A.W. and Edith Smalley, the youngest son of three brothers and one sister. Paul graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City. He was involved in many sports but enjoyed “football” the most. Paul married the love of his life, Margaret Alexander from Houstonia, Missouri. They resided in Kansas City. Paul and Margaret had one child, Margaret “Maggie” Jacobs of our town. Paul went to work for Duff and Rep, then Mehorney Furniture Company, and then on to his favorite job as furniture manufacturer’s rep for Century Furniture Company where he worked for over 50 years. He loved his traveling job and was considered a top salesman for many years. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 65 years, Margaret Smalley. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Margaret “Maggie” and Leon Jacobs; grandchildren Joy and Jeff Jacobs; three great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. Paul’s favorite things for fun in life were being a charter member of the Carriage Club, his home in Palm Beach, Florida, and the Saturday night dancing where he was a pro. Paul will be able to rejoin his wife to celebrate his 100th birthday. “Get on the Road Again” and he will be “Dancing With the Stars.” Paul loved his family. He was such a true gentleman with great dignity and charm. We are going to miss him with those beautiful twinkling blue eyes, along with the clever quips and special songs.
