Patsy L. Whitney, 73, of Overland Park, KS passed away Friday, June 20, 2014. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Association of Fronto-Temporal Dementia, 1616 Walnut St., Suite 1100, Philadelphia, PA, 19103.
Patsy was born on May 15, 1941 in Crystal City, TX. She graduated from Pasadena High School in 1959. She went on to study Physical Therapy at the Univ. of CO., graduating in 1963. She earned her Master's in Physical Therapy from the Univ. of KS. In 1964 she married David L. Whitney from Paola, KS who precedes her in death. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Meredith Whitney and Megan Schuster; a brother, James Fowler; and a sister, Phyllis Downey.
Patsy worked in Kansas, Oregon and Minnesota as a Physical Therapist before teaching at KU Med. Center. Patsy's hobbies included reading, singing, and a continual pursuit of knowledge. While working and raising 2 daughters, she made time to pursue her lifelong dream and in 1992 she completed a Master's in Archeology. She spent many years traveling in the US and abroad, volunteering on archeological digs. She served as a role model and hero to her daughters.
