Patrick Mercer, 24, of Lee’s Summit, was tragically taken August 30, 2016, as a result of injuries sustained in a fatal motor vehicle accident. Patrick was born July 18, 1992, in St. Louis, the second of three sons to Mike and Jackie Mercer. The family moved to the Kansas City area in 2003 where Patrick attended Lee’s Summit schools and went on to Pittsburg State University. He recently graduated this past May having earned a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management. He landed his first job at E&K as a Project Manager. Patrick had a deep passion for family, rugby, baseball, his beloved dog, Chewy, and the company of good friends. Patrick was about as happy an individual as anyone has encountered. At Pittsburg State, he was a leader both on and off the field and had played his first ever 15's rugby match for the Kansas City Blues Rugby Club this past Saturday – following in his dad’s and his brother Kelly’s footsteps and with both in attendance. Pat’s passion and desire will surely be remembered, but it was his infectious, positive attitude that we will carry with us. No matter the situation, Pat was flashing that ever-loving, engaging smile. He is loved; he will be missed; a day won’t go by without him in our hearts. Patrick, to whom his mother referred as her “calm between two storms”, leaves behind his parents, Mike and Jackie Mercer, brothers Kelly and Jack, his grandfather, John Cannon, many aunts, uncles, cousins, his extended family of the Kansas City Blues Rugby Club, Gorrillahead Rugby, and his numerous friends that have all continued to share their love and prayers for Patrick and his family. They would like all of you to know that it has helped more than you will ever know and Patrick sees it. Our Patrick will never be forgotten. Burial to be held privately at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial service to be held at 7PM on Thursday, Sept. 8, at Children’s Mercy Victory Field in Swope Soccer Village, 6310 Lewis Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64132.
