Dear Dee, Scott, and Family, I only met your father briefly (years ago – upon a couple of occasions). However, I still remember his welcoming, blissful spirit and smile, and he shall be missed by many. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. This is a poem that I wrote in memory of your dad.

“Upon the Em’rald Homeland Shores”

Upon the em’rald homeland shores,
I stand and stare as ships return.
Today, I saw your bonny ship –
amidst green isles – ‘midst friends and fern.

Your bonny ship to harbour docked.
She’s safe from storms – endeared by all.
At last, she’s home – to roam no more;
She’s moored near shores where seagulls call.

You heard their cry from ocean’s port –
where clovers grow in grass-of-green,
adorned with sea-spurrey and heath,
where hamlets hide holly with sheen.

Killarney’s lakes and waterfalls –
where whisp’ring winds beckoned to thee,
and golden rays stream through soft peaks
of Purple Mountain in Kerry.

On homeland’s shores the sweet-grass grows,
and quaint folklores forever roam.
Forget-me-nots and bluebells dance
in meadow-grass, which called you home.

Where sapphire skies reflect on lakes,
and tranquil waves caress the sand,
such em’rald grass I’ve never seen –
as that, which dwells, in your homeland.

Such peaceful pastures past the glen –
in vibrant hues – purple and green,
with yellow specks where daisies dance;
where lilies sing, it’s so serene.

Upon the em’rald homeland shores,
you waved good-bye and blew a kiss,
‘midst Yorkshire fog and laurel’s lamp –
a golden sunset shines with bliss.

While we only met up at Panera Bread on occasion,  we will always remember Pat!  He was a person one never forgets...and we never shall!!  It was an honor to have known him and we hope to continue our friendship with his lovely wife, Bridgena.

You were always so much loved, you will never be forgotten Uncle Pat.  The essence of yourself is forever imprinted on our hearts.  The loving warmth of your welcome, your big smile and your wicked sense of humour…which even for the quietest of us didn't escape.  And this is how you will always be remembered. RIP


Though our words can do little, our thoughts and prayers are with you Aunt Bridgena, Patrick, Bridget, Deirdre, Liam & all the family and our hearts go out to you at this truly sad time.

I am deeply saddened at having lost 
our beautiful  Uncle Pat. 
He has been an inspiration and the greatest of role models for me and my brothers and sisters since out earliest years. He was the epitome of happy goodness, he had a generous smiling welcome for all and he has shown everyone how life should be 
and can be lived. 
He was a humble man in regard to his achievements but full of pride about his good fortune in having found his 
beloved Bridgina and being blessed 
with such a wonderful family. 
No doubt he faced and overcame many challenges but he always put effort and energy into displaying the joy of life. 
Pat had that precious art and skill 
of seeing the fun in every situation. 
His exuberance enriched all who met him and will now be sadly missing from our lives. May we live lives worthy of the example he had set. 

I am confident he is welcomed into heaven by St Patrick and his other patron St Joseph, who was, like him, the greatest of husbands and fathers and a truly unique, one of a kind, human being. 
May you rest Pat in eternal peace 
with The Lord and may  the fun of heaven be yours now and for eternity.

Grandpa always called me monkey and played tricks on my sister and me. One of the tricks he played was hanging our dolls upside-down in really high places by their hair! He also loved laughing at our jokes. I will miss him very much

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr and Mrs Cahill many years ago when I was a scheduler at the Drs office they went to in Kansas City . They were so wonderful to me and always had a kind word of encouragement . Their love for each other was evident every time I saw them and they became more than clients at our clinic to me , they became friends . Being of Irish ☘️ heritage myself ( and proud of it ! ) I shared with Mrs. Cahill my love of the Irish soda bread and of course she made me some and brought them the next time they came in . On my last day at the clinic before I moved to North Carolina, they came to tell me goodbye and she brought me a bag of my favorites! I loved both of them very much . It was wonderful to be able to serve them in a small way by making their appointments and an honor to know them . My thoughts , prayers and love go out to you especially , Mrs Cahill and to your children and grandchildren.  God bless all of you and Rest In Peace Mr. Cahill  love and prayers , Rose Mary O’Boyle ☘️❤️

Bridgena and kids.  I am so saddened by Pat's death. all our family adored him.  What a hardworking,  loving man and a true catholic gentleman.   N o w he's reconnected with mom and dad.  Streaming prayers,  hugs and much love.  God bless.

He called me rascal & he always smiled when he saw me

Pat was the sweetest guy from the Old Country.  We have so many wonderful memories.  His memorable line was "those were the good old days." He made sure Larry had his favorite beer whenever we visited. His faith was so strong, hated missing Mass, but was grateful when we brought communion. We were always welcomed like family. We love them both.

May you rest in peace Uncle Pat Jo.
Continue to smile and laugh as this is my most loved memory of you.
