Patricia Mary Murphy

Patricia Mary Murphy, 90, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 8th, 10:00 a.m., at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, KS, with burial following in Fairview Cemetery, Liberty, MO. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m., at the church, prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters, Servants of Mary, Kansas City, KS.

Patricia was born February 1, 1924, in San Francisco, CA, to Bernard John Dooley and Mary Kathleen Scally. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Holy Names University, Oakland, CA and earned her Masters Degree in Elementary Education at UMKC. Patricia taught for 28 years at Lakewood School in North Kansas City. She was a lector and a eucharistic minister at Cure of Ars Catholic Church. She belonged to the Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Society and the afternoon book club with Cure of Ars Church. She personified the Irish Catholic matriarch.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Murphy. She is survived by her sister, Barbara (Dooley) Nicolini; her children: J. Michael (Mary Helen) Murphy, Jerome E. (Dede) Murphy, Mary Kathleen Murphy, Patrick J. (Laurie) Murphy and John B. (Judy) Murphy. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: David Murphy, Mark (Meghan) Murphy, Timothy (Ashley) Murphy, Molly Murphy, Brendan, Maura, Carina Mae, Matthew, Kevin, Theresa, Mary Kaitlin, John and Thomas Murphy; and 11 great-grandchildren.
