Pat was born in Manhattan, Kansas on January 28th, 1947 to Ted and Jane Grebowiec. Pat attended Avila University where she earned her Nursing degree in 1968.
She spent her career giving anesthesia to countless patients. Her co-workers describe her as a loving and caring person to all. It is said that no one could intubate a small infant better than Pat. She loved each and every child that came her way. She retired from Children’s Mercy Hospital in 2019 for the third time…taking a pandemic to finally slow her down.
“This is truly heartbreaking news. Since my first day at CMH, Pat supported me, encouraged me, and was always there with a smile, regardless of the situation. She was such an amazing part of our department and anesthetist group and will forever be a part of my professional and personal life. Thank you for sharing your mom with us for so many years-she cared for countless patients, taught hundreds of students, and touched more lives than can ever be counted. She made us better and did so each and every day. Not everyone retires multiple times over a span of a few years, but recognizing Pat and her contributions and successful career deserved that many celebrations, and so many more. Thanks for being a colleague and friend, Pat, and well done on a life well lived” - Rachel
“I’m so shocked and sorry to hear! We named our first born after your Mom (Patrick) she was our matchmaker. She kept saying how we should meet & she made sure we knew about one another. I loved your Mom and will always remember her fondly. She loved her family and she was so full of life. Hugs and prayers to you all.” - Adriane & Kevin
Pat loved to spend time with her family. She loved hitting the slot machines, attending Royals games, feasting on fabulous meals while famously enjoying a skanky dirty vodka martini with extra olives. Pat could be seen at The Hurricane watching the rock show, featuring Moaning Lisa/Culture Killers. She was the epitome of a band mom. Pat also had a creative spirit, often gifting her stained glass pieces to close family and friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Jane Grebowiec, and sister Mary Jane (Tedi) Steele. She is survived by her three children, Heather Ann Ramos, Desmond John Ramos, and Shannon Elizabeth Higgins. 5 grandchildren, Ashley Ramos (Algernon), Steven Templeton (Eva), Jamie Koho, Cooper Ramos and Brooklyn Ramos. 4 great-grandchildren, Alijah, Kameron, Lennox and Nela. Brother Joseph “Ron” Greboweic (Eileen) and sister Sandra “Sandy” DeVore (Dale), dearest friend Sandy Talbott, and a host of nieces and nephews, special friends and co-workers. Pat was fondly called “Mom” or “Gigi” by all her loved ones.
