She was born on May 25, 1945 to Adelphia and George Shanks in Kansas City, Missouri. The day she graduated from Northeast High School, May 31, 1963, she married her loving husband, Robert Flinn.
Pat spent her life doting upon her family and friends. She made a lasting impact on everyone she met, leaving behind a true legacy of love. She loved unconditionally, always putting everyone’s well-being and happiness first. Her charm, smile, laugh, and genuineness will be greatly missed.
Pat worked for the Kansas City Missouri School District in the Film and Video Library/Library Services Department for nearly 30 years, retiring in 2002. Starting in 2009, she devoted much of her time and energy to caring for her youngest granddaughters. She battled cancer (multiple myeloma) for 10 years; only being in remission the past three years. She was such a strong individual fighting her way through all of her illness, ensuring she could spend as much time with her family as possible. Ultimately, it was a fall on September 22nd followed by immediate femur replacement surgery which she could not fight.
Left to cherish her beloved memory is her husband of 55 years, Robert. She was the devoted mother to her son Jon, his wife Laura; her daughter Melody Flinn-Murch and husband Brian. She was a loving grandma of Allison and Katelynn Flinn, and Morgan and Charlette Murch. She was the dear sister of Robert Shanks, Denise Leon, her husband Phil and nephew Alex.
The family will receive friends and family at the visitation starting at 1:00 Saturday, October 6th at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64133.
The celebration of life will immediately follow starting at 2:30, with the burial at 3:30.
