Norma was born January 12, 1922 in Coulter, Iowa. She was the daughter of Nanna and Axel Hansen. Norma's parents were born in Denmark. Norma and her brothers Raymond and Russell were first generation born in the United States. Heritage was important to the family, but they took pride in their new homeland.
After graduation from High School in Hampton, Iowa, Norma moved to St. Joseph, Missouri to find work. There she met and married Norman Minor. They had one daughter, Janet.
Norma and Janet moved to the Kansas City area in 1954.
In 1960, Norma married Clifford Fisher. Together they raised their "girls"; Carol (Dick) Smith; Independence; Pat (Bill) Stevenson, Grain Valley; Jean (Charles) Wolber, Blue Springs; Janet (Harry) Pottinger, Independence.
Norma was blessed with 14 grandchildren. Bill Stevenson, Jill Antes, Debbie Marshall; Terri Stevenson, Steve Smith, Cindy Batson, Malinda Smith-Evans, Chris Wolber, Matthew Wolber, Renee Shimel, Leah Zelk, Jennifer Pottinger, Julie Price, and Andrew Wheeler. She was blessed with great and great great grandchildren as well as many dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Axel and Nanna Hansen, her brothers Russell and Raymond Hansen, and her daughters Carol Smith and Pat Stevenson.
Her celebration of life will be held Saturday June 22, at Floral Hills Memorial Chapel at 10:00, visitation at 9:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Meals on Wheels in Independence, MO or the Missouri Council of the Blind may be made in Norma's memory.
