Noel James McBride, 67, of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday November 16th, 2023. He had a private family moment to say final goodbyes on Saturday November 18th at McGilley State Line Chapel in Kansas City. A Celebration of Life for Noel McBride will be held at the Overland Park Arboretum after the holiday season. Details will be posted at later date once arrangements are finalized.
Noel was born on May 29th, 1956, in Houston, Texas, to father Cornelius McBride and mother Virginia (Copeland) McBride, who precede him in death. Noel leaves behind his beloved children, Elyse Mohr (Clint) of Overland Park, KS; son Max McBride of Kansas City, MO; and daughter Blair McBride of Denver, CO. He is also survived by his sister Marti Erbe (Drake) of Boston, MA, nieces Lindsay Comiskey (Frank) and Whitney Holloway of Houston Texas, and dear friend Lori Mullinix of Olathe, KS.
In 1980 Noel graduated from the University of Oklahoma Pharmacy School. After college, Noel built a successful career in surgical device sales and traveled around the country. He was an avid tennis player, the life of the party, and always knew how to make people laugh. Growing up Noel’s mother would make him read comic books after school to ensure that he had a sense of humor which he will always be remembered for in the years to come.
In retirement, Noel began to focus on the smaller things in life. He enjoyed painting, spending time with his kids and taking care of his own personal garden and plants. Noel was always enthusiastic to share his ever-growing knowledge on plants and helped many to maintain their own plants and see them thrive. He loved to be in nature whether it was bike riding, looking at flowers at the arboretum or sitting on his porch talking to friends. Noel was also long-time member of Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, KS.
While his family and friends are deeply saddened by his untimely passing, he will continue to be remembered for his humor, his love for his children, and his passion to connect with others.
We know you’re in heaven making everyone laugh, but just know you are deeply missed down here.
