Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 2nd, 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes, Kansas City, MO, with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 1st, at McGilley State Line Chapel, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., where the Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rockhurst High School.
Nick was born March 24, 1985 in Kansas City, MO. He proudly attended Rockhurst High School where he graduated in 2003. He attended Kansas State University and graduated in 2007 with a Planning and Urban Development Degree. Nick enjoyed working at Foley Company as a Project Engineer.
Nick was naturally athletic and played many sports. Recently he enjoyed competing in arm wrestling tournaments around the country with his father. Nick was a lefty and was undefeated against his dad (although he never beat his dad right handed). Nick also enjoyed fishing, pheasant hunting, snake hunting with his dad and creekin. Nick loved playing poker with his brother, Bobby, and cousin, Richard and they spent many a late night playing…there still may be a “marker” out.
Nick had a friendly, positive personality and was liked by everyone he met. As his friends would attest, he was also a practical joker and had the ability to liven up a room or party with his presence. Nick was very loving and caring and was always concerned about his family. Family was the number one priority to Nick, and particularly his mother whom he loved dearly. Nick had a deep love for his brother Bobby, his best buddie growing up. The softest spot in his heart was for his sister, Michelle. They spent many hours with Michelle cooking and Nick eating. He thought everything she made was the BEST thing he had every eaten. He had a special love for his grandmothers and always had a smile and a hug for them. He also loved Gino our Golden Retriever. Nick would occasionally take Gino to his fraternity for weekend where he became somewhat of a celebrity. Gino was always exhausted when he came home. Nick also loved to be with “The Young Cousins” who get together a couple of times a year to eat, drink and share stories. Nick Callegari will be missed enormously by his family, friends…..and the world. He was a “man for others”.
Nick was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Richard Anderson, and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Peggy Callegari. He is survived by his parents, Chris and Lori Callegari; brother, Robert C. (Nicole) Callegari, and his sister, Michelle Callegari.
