She passed in her daughter’s loving embrace at University Health Lakewood Care Center in Kansas City, Missouri, where she was cared for by a staff who spoke fondly of her quick wit and big heart.
Naomi was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on March 4, 1933. She was raised in Kansas City and proved to be a bold, independent young woman. She enjoyed telling stories about her adventures in downtown Kansas City via the streetcar. Her first child, a son, was born in 1953 and was followed by her three daughters, all four of whom she loved very much. Though she treasured being a mother, she also felt the call to care for others and pursued that mission by becoming a certified LPN in 1972. Her tough, resilient nature was balanced by her genuine compassion and devotion to those who needed her help, making her a skilled nurse. Naomi was very proud to be a nurse and inspired two of her daughters and a granddaughter to follow in her footsteps. Along with nursing, she took up a variety of hobbies such as learning American Sign Language and also performing as a clown - she spread lots of joy and laughter as her character, ‘Clown Nomi’, at church and charity events. Her selflessness continued on after she retired. She was quick to help out neighbors and even other residents at the care center in which she spent her final months. Naomi enjoyed sewing, crocheting, tending to her flowers (especially her beautiful roses), cuddling with her beloved cat, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Pearl Hank; sister, Patricia Sue Carlson; grandmother, Dollie Marks; and cousin, Shirley Stone. She is survived by her children John (Margaret) Williams of Kansas City, Missouri, Terri Williams of Longmont, Colorado, Lisa (Clark) White of Bates City, Missouri, and Missy (Brian) Erwin of Kansas City, Kansas; half-sister Jessie Kuhl of Johnston, Iowa; niece Deb (Mike) Skaggs of Peculiar, Missouri; grandchildren Wendy (Mike) Hans, Kristine (Brad) Homant, Laura (Scott) Sullivan, Melissa (Steve) Tamasi, Jill (Kasey) Collins, Amy Williams, Kate Williams, Jill (Ty) Martin, Jessica (Greg) Dowty, John (Alison) Meara, Jennifer (Matt) Burns, Emma (Nick) Peppler, Jordan White, Jackie (Andy) Henry, Julie Erwin, Brian Erwin, and Benjamin Erwin as well as many great-grandchildren,

A visitation will be held from 9-10 AM, with Celebration of Life at 10 AM, on January 14th, 2023 at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery, 8251 Hillcrest Rd, Kansas City, MO 64138.
