 In January 1977 we moved from KCMO schools that were on strike to Grandview. Mrs. Welsh was my 3rd grade home room teacher that made a special effort to catch me up to the 3rd grade level from my 2nd grade education during recesses and after school. I had also recently lost my mom and had horrible behavior. The principal and  the other teachers wanted me out of the regular classes but Mrs. Welsh personally stood up to them and tirelessly worked on straightening out my behavior so I would not slip through cracks. She stood up to all her coworkers to help 1 very troubled kid she hardly knew.

Everyone has a few special teachers behind their triumphs in life and I consider her one of mine.

 Don, Dale Wilson told me this morning of Naomi's passing.  I just wanted you to know how very sorry I am.  Naomi was always so positive and graceful.  You were a wondeful caregiver.  She will be missed deeply.

So sorry to learn of your great loss. Naomi was such a kind and loving person. 

Remember visiting her and your family when you lived on Easton, so many years ago.  She had made the brownies with the marshmallow topping and chocolate frosting on top.  Likely a family favorite.  Also recall we visited you after you moved to KC area when we were en route to Texas.  

Just to refresh your memory, we lived on Lorraine, and I worked with your cousin, Lucille.  Also, Bill recalls you both went to serve in the Army on the same day and reported to Leonard Wood.

Naomi was one of my dearest friends. You are in my thoughts and prayers as you work through this difficult time. Take comfort in knowing she touched so many lives and gave so much to her students and friends. I am sure the angels sang her into heaven.

Don and Families, So sorry to hear of her passing. I know it must have been very hard on you all this time. We had alot of fun together being neighbors on the Readlyn farm get togethers. Keeping you in my prayers.

It can be so hard to face the first year without your loved one, but the love of family and friends can carry you through.
