She was born December 6, 1925, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Agnes Gwenetth (Wright) and Raymond Victor Dickey.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Robert Harvey Hughes, and a sister, Sally Ann Frost.
She is survived by a son, Robert Monroe Hughes (Janeen), and a daughter, Gwenetth Hughes Gepford (Rick); and six grandchildren, Melissa Gerlach (Chuck), Megan Hughes, Molly Hughes, Anne Beville (Adam), Bill Gepford (Melissa), and Kate Gepford.
Nancy was an Elder, Sunday School teacher, handbell ringer, and circle leader at Ward Parkway Presbyterian Church. When she moved to Lenexa, she joined the Lenexa United Methodist Church. She was on the Women’s Board, active in Sunday School, a Stephan Minister, circle leader, and a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. After Bob gave up driving at the age of 91, they joined the Lakeview Chapel Village Foundation where they lived.
During her life, she was an avid party planner, lover of her Boston Terrier children, and a faithful Christian. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Nancy’s children wish to express their gratitude to the staff of Lakeview Village Care Center and Great Lake's Hospice for their compassionate care this past year.
There will be a chapel service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, followed by burial.
