Miriam Birkett Wilson, 88, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Sunday, December 16, 2012. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 22nd, 12:00 p.m., at McGilley State Line Chapel, with burial following in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Stanley, KS. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Villa St. Joseph, 11901 Rosewood Drive, Leawood, KS, 66209, or to the Heartland SPCA, 5428 Antioch Drive, Mission, KS, 66202, or to the American Heart Association, 6800 West 93rd Street, Overland Park, KS, 66212.
Miriam was born September 28, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri to John and Alma (Spruhde) Birkett. She grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Paseo High School. She attended Metropolitan Community College and worked for the telephone company. She met and married Ralph Wilson in 1972. There were married for 36 years. Miriam enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, reading and sewing. She loved animals and had three cats, Sophie, Lizzie and Sasha.
Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wilson; and her parents. She is survived by her son, Jeff Kious of Overland Park, KS.
Miriam will be loved and missed by all who met and knew her.
