I only had a few times to see my cousin Mike.  Once when he was with Uncle Dick and Aunt Blanche at my Dad and Mom's house. (Ron and Mary Sharkey).  The times I remember were the good years.  The last time I saw Mike was when he owned a gas staition and he was proud that it was working out for him.  My heart goes to you, his family.

Dear Martha and Family,

I just learned that Mike passed away.  I am so sorry that we haven't been in contact with each other as adults.  Uncle Dick, Aunt Blanche, and family visited us every summer when we were kids.  We had such fun together.  The last time I saw Mike was at Uncle Dick's when Aunt Blanche had an open house for us in 1981.  Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and that of my mother, Mary Sharkey, widow of Ron Sharkey.  She now lives here in Sturgeon Bay, WI near me.

I knew Mike in high school. I always thought he was a good kid and a good basketball player. I'm very sad to hear of his passing. Please accept my condolences.

Dear Martha and all the family:  Where do I begin?  Mike was a part of all of my high school years at Lillis even though he was the "little brother" to all of our gang.  So many good memories of us all running around Kansas City, drive-in movies, hanging out at each other's homes and so many fun times too numerous to list here.  I remember Mike and Bruce's dad serving me venison and I pretended to really like it a lot.  Those guys were avid hunters as I recall.

When I married, had five lovely kids and eventually moved to Phoenix, AZ, I lost touch with the Sharkey clan and just a couple of days ago received word from my brother that Mike had passed away.  I could not believe it, since in my heart and mind he is still 16 years old.  I remember his nervousness at asking Martha to go steady.  All of us egged him on but knew that he loved her then as he must have loved her until the end of his life as he promised.

God bless you all.  Know that persons far away from KC as I am still recall the sweetness and love he bestowed upon us all.  We truly had "Happy Days" as teens and friends.

Will be praying for all of you to be able to then pray to him, as he is truly God's angel.

Since my family had moved from the neighborhood,the only way there was to get an update on his family was a chance to catch Mike outside of  his garage on Wornall,whenever I drove the Red Bridge Country Club bus for the KCATA(Metro).He  always had time,smiling and laughing telling me about the new additions in the family,while I was waiting thru a red light or two.My condolences to all of the family~Merrill Wm Day

I was so sad to learn about your loss.

Unfortunately I did not find out in time to attend the Rosary or Mass as I would have been honored to be there. 

I enjoyed watching the on line video pictures. You guys look great and Mike really looked the same as he did in high school. You too! He kept that same quiet smile and sparkling eyes. 

I am sure you are comforted by the beautiful life you built together with children and grandchildren to share it with. 

Lives well lived are all anyone can ask for and you certainly built that together.

Dear Mrs. Sharkey, Mike, and all the Family,  I'm so sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Sharkey.  What a beautiful family he has!  I certainly remember his warm smile and kindness as he'd talk to me about what needed to be done to fix one of the many beat up McNamara cars. Dad would always say that you can't trust just anyone when it comes to cars, but we could trust Mr. Sharkey.  We appreciate all of his hard work and his kind ways too.  I didn't realize until I read his obituary that Mr. and Mrs. Sharkey were high school sweethearts - always such a darling couple. Mike kept our fleet of junkers running, somehow, for many years and, most importantly, able to pass inspections, always at a very fair price. He was a real guy and will be greatly missed. Our condolences to your family.

Martha and family--I was shocked to hear about Mike's passing.  Unfortunately we lost touch over the years, the last time I saw Mike was at the station in December 2006.  He was looking forward to retirement at that time.  I can't imagine what you are feeling right now but please know that Mike played a big role in my life during all the years I worked for him.  I have vivid memories of the hard work and good times that we had together.  Mike instilled a work ethic in me that I believe has contributed greatly to my success over the years and I enjoy relating stories to my son and daughter of the times we had working together.  Dana and I have been married now for almost 26 years and we have a son, Zack (17) who will be a senior in high school and our daughter Holly (15 in July) who will be a sophmore this year!
