Mike loved quality music.  was a fun loving guy... so sad, after all these years, to learn of his passing

Mike,
I pray that you have found peace......I will always remember your smile and your kindness toward others in grade school.  
I will continue to pray for your family...be an angel for them, especially your Mom.  She loves you so much!

Dearest Dowd Family, 
I am so deeply saddened to learn about Mike's passing. I did not know until tonight or I would most definitely have come to pay my respects. Please accept my condolences and know you are all in my prayers.

It's your favorite sister again. I forgot to thank you for taking me to my first concert, Queen. But taking me to the concert wasn't good enough for you. You made sure we "rushed the stage" by grabbing my arm & fighting thru crowd to make sure we made it to the front row for remainder of show. I have pictures to prove it. Miss you daily & you will forever be in my heart. I know Dad was there to greet you. But I'm hoping all the animals I've loved & lost we're also there to loudly greet you. Because I know how you loved animals. Tee Hee! Peace, beece

Dear Mike, 
Thanks for sharing your hot wheels with me, thanks for letting me tag along on errands, thanks for introducing me to music such as Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt & The Skeletons; movies such as Bar Fly & Shakes the Clown & authors like Hunter S. Thompson. If I was able to impress you in anyway at all growing up, then  that was a good day for me & in fact my day was made. Thanks for climbing up the outside of a dorm building during Freshman orientation at MU,knocking on the outside window & freaking out my roommate & I. Thanks for somehow finding out where & when my first class was at MU & sneaking in the room & writing on the corner of the blackboard, "Beece, I'm Watching You"....how you found out where & when my class was, I will never know; Thanks for telling a grade school friend of mine that I was in the "womens prison", only to have that same person come up to me at our grade school reunion a year later & nervously ask me "what I was in prison for & when I got our".  Thanks for making me feel okay with the fact that I was always more comfortable just blending into the background during family gatherings o in a crowd; Mostly thanks for being with me every day during my aneurysm.  I think that is when our bond really deepened. You will live on through your wonderful adult children Matthew, Alison & Sami.  I've always believed that there was a higher power & something much more meaningful after this journey on earth. And now knowing that you are already living there is a comfort to me.  So until we meet again.....YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART & SPIRIT.  I LOVE YOU & WAS BLESSED TO HAVE YOU AS MY BIG BROTHER!  Miss you my hero!  And until we meet again on the other side,

I remember piling in the Dowd car to go to many basketball games and practices.  Your father worked so hard to make us better than we really were, and Mike was among the group of us who worked to become better players.  We practiced for hours in your driveway.  Mike was the best shooter among us.  More importantly, Mike was a leader of our group. He wanted to do well on the court and in life, too. I valued his friendship. I miss your dad, and think of Mike well, now in a different place where, hopefully, what seemed like sadness is now turned to peace.  Mike McClernon
