Michael was born on July 30, 1956. He grew up in Kansas City and attended Ruskin High School where he was an athlete that played football and baseball. He went on to graduate from the University of Central Missouri and became an Insurance Professional lasting over 40 years. Michael dedicated himself to his work with integrity and diligence. His commitment to his career was a reflection of his strong work ethic and his desire to provide for his family and support his community.
Throughout his life, he exemplified a passion for sports, particularly for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and he shared many joyful moments with his loved ones rooting for his favorite teams. One of his favorite traditions was hosting the annual Superbowl party cheering on the Chiefs to many Superbowl wins. He was also an avid golfer who was proud to get a hole-in-one at Fire Keeper Golf Course on hole #5 surrounded by his closest friends. His zest for life and his passion for sports brought light and laughter to those around him.
Michael will be remembered for his generous heart, genuine kindness, and his willingness to go above and beyond for those he cared about. Michael was the definition of selfless. His warm smile and compassionate nature endeared him to everyone he met, making a lasting impression that will never fade. Though he may be gone from our sight, Michael's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, his high school sweetheart, Leslie, his children Christopher Simpson of Overland Park, KS, and Lauren Yonke (Curtis) of Manhattan, KS, his granddaughters Kinley and Kamryn Yonke, and his sisters Vickie Binnie (Chris) of Warsaw, MO and Karen Williams of Sedalia, MO. He was an uncle, and great-uncle to many nieces, and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Dale Simpson (Jorene Prince), and his mother, Barbra Jean Stevens (Ralph Stevens). His family meant everything to him, and he cherished every moment.
