Dear Mike, 

It is so sad to lose an old friend, especially one who added such a memorable chapter to my life. I remember the old Rochurst College days (at least part of them). Wherever we went Mal would add his entertaining touch by playing music, telling a joke or just by being his fun and loving self. He was a natural...and I always loved just being part of that wonderful group of guys during those college years. Thanks for adding to my life. Keep the party going!!!! R.I.P.

Mr Maloney was an electric force as a teacher, he left an indelible mark on many childrens lives. Mine in the 4th grade at St. Agnes. To this day I make my children sing Bob Segers Katmandu when naming the capitol of Nepal. Thank you Mr. Maloney. I know Heaven is a brighter place.

Dear Maloney family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Michael,we were not particularily close but I was always impressed with the level of respect he showed to everyone he came in contact with. He always made me feel like a much better person just to be in his prescence. I once heard if you stand in the prescence of a great person they will always inspire and make you feel as though as you could be great also. He left behind an amazing legacy in humanity and genuine care. He will truly be missed.

Dear Maloney Family,  I was so sorry to hear about Mike's death.  I would have been at the funeral but learned about it too late.  Kathy and I were best friends, so I have a lot of memories of Mike and the Maloney family.  For many years I went over to the Maloney home on Christmas Eve after my family stuff and after the Maloneys finished opening their gifts.  We would head to the basement and Mike would pull out his guitar - he loved to sing Bob Dylan songs - exactly like Bob sang - it was so awesome.  Kathy and Timmy would join in - the fun and jokes and games began and went on for several hours.  Mike was always kind and crazy and just a good guy.  The world is a sadder place without Mike (and Kathy, Timmy and Jimmy) in it.  Maureen Davis

R.I.P. Mr. Maloney.

I was so saddened to hear about Mike. I worked with "Mal" years ago at the Granfalloon. He always made me smile and that shotgun laugh..oh my..I loved it. I remember I was in desperate need of assistance one night..I was scared..I called and asked him for help..he never aaked why..in fact he didn't even wait for me to finish talking..the phone went quiet and he rushed to my side...calmed me and stayed with me. I haven never forgotten that..that was the kind of man he was. I haven't seen Mike in years..but he has always held a special place in my heart. Thoughts are with his family. He will be missed.

Mr. Maloney was my geography teacher at Immaculata High School in Leavenworth. He was a true "Carpe Diem" spirit with a rare mixture of intellect, mischievous wit and genuine compassion for his adolescent students. His remarkable energy was an inspiration that has continued to positively influence me throughout my life, especially after I entered the academic profession and found myself marveling that Mr. Maloney possessed the skills to make it look so easy. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family. I am sure you know that his sparkling influence lives on in the hearts and minds of everyone who was fortunate enough to have known him.

Mike was my cousin. He was really more than my cousin growing up together he was like an older brother. He was the older cool kid on the block the one you looked up to the one you wanted to emulate and be like. He was the first one there to pull you out of a jam. He was the one to turn a dull party into a night you would always remember by getting on the piano and creating live music. He always was the one with the jokes to make you laugh. He was always the one full of life and good cheer. He was more than a cousin he was one of my best friends. He will always have a special place in my heart and I will miss him deeply.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief.  May your memories bring you comfort.

It might be a cliche but the world was a better place with him around. 
My fondest memory was him playing Mr. Rogers in a skit we worked out for the Gong Show put on in 8th grade. Too much fun. I think we tied for the win.
I started missing him as soon as I left St. E.

Mike was a great guy and teacher! He touched our lives and I hope he knew it. We will miss him greatly. God be with him and his family.

To the entire Maloney family, my heart goes out to all of you on your loss. Mr. Maloney was one of my favorite teachers of all time. His methods of teaching geography were truly unique.  A couple that I can remember "Juneau Alaska....Yeah I know Alaska, but Juneau Alaska?"  Another that I can still hear him say, "Hey I know of a great New Delhi that opened in India, has some great sandwiches."  Hearing his name makes me smile, hearing of his passing makes me sad.  Mal, you're one of a kind...Godspeed my respected teacher and friend.  Heaven's gain, earth's pain.  You will be missed!

Honestly I just remember Mr. Maloney's sense of humor, he was so funny and so dry!  He was only at Immaculata for one year and I have thought about him and smiled many times since 1985.  We tried to get him to come to our 10 year reunion but he was busy and we were all so disappointed.  It is amazing that 1 person can have such a positive impact on a group of kids that he spent only 9 months with.  Rest in peace Mr. Maloney, you will always be remembered. I was so sorry to hear about Mr. Maloney, he was by far the best teacher I have ever had!  He had all of us girls singing in the church and he played his guitar in class, if we were good.  My favorite memory is when he threw the popsicle on the black board and it stuck there, then slid down to the bottom.  He had a way of reaching kids and encouraging them. Mike had such a huge impact on so many of us at St. Elizabeth's.  He not only taught us every capitol ever known, but he taught us so many life lessons with great humor and class !  I have so many wonderful memories of a great man.  Cheers Mal !!!

So sorry to hear the news about Mr. Mal. I have memories of him that have lasted 35 years! I know all my capitals of states and of countries . Freaks people out. They always ask how do you know that! He inspired me to love geography. Rip Mr. Mal! You are way cool. Very sad day for me.

Mr. Maloney was my 7th/8th grade teacher at St. Agnes School back in the late '70's. Yes, 35 years have passed and I can still see him sitting on his desk making learning fun or playing football with us at recess!  Later in life I enjoyed watching the TV show "The Wonder Years" simply because it made me think of just how fun and special grade school used to be!  Mr. Maloney played a large part in making my grade school memories "wonderful"! I will remember him always and I thank God for blessing me with such a great teacher!

I've had a handful of great teachers in my life, and none could hold a candle to Mr. Maloney.  Learning was so fun with him!  What an important lesson, taught by such an important person.  I miss him so much.  He is a giant in my book.

You will never know the impact you had in our lives. You truly were a gift given to us at a time of so much uncertainty as an eighth grader.  You made learning much easier for all. Your youthfulness was a breath of fresh air.  Hey Jude at church???  Who can forget that?  Thank you for leaving so many great memories. You will be missed by each heart you touched!

To the Maloney family, Your Dad was an amazing teacher that knew the true meaning, and joy of teaching. He was a master at making school fun and still teaching me more than anyone ever has about History and Geography. You might not of known your Dad as a teacher, but he was a true inspiration to all his students. He later became a true friend to me and although I haven't seen him in years, I feel the loss of a very special person. I am playing "Let it Be " for you today Michael, and I will always have you in my prayers.

Mr. Maloney touched so many lives, especially mine.  He taught us all so much more than capitals or text book studies.  He inspired and encouraged like no other teacher I've ever had.  I remember him with such fondness.

Mr. Maloney was by far the most memorable and fun teacher I ever had at St. Agnes and Miege combined.  He made learning fun - Capital Downs was the best!  Darn-a-swear and Heck-sinki anyone??!! He also coached us to 1st place championships in basketball 7th and 8th grade years.  Our celebratory dinner at Jenny's was unforgettable as was working with him when I was in my 20's at the Granfalloon where he bartended with his partner-in-crime, Duffy, aka, President Ford!  I loved him as a teacher and as a friend and will never forget him!  RIP Mal-dog

Mr. Maloney was an innovator and ahead of his time. He made learning interesting at a time when it wasn't really fun for us. And as others have said, I have mad capital skills because of him. You will be missed Mr. M.

Mr. Maloney was one of the best teachers I ever had, as well. I remember us all lined up with our back to the chalkboard, all of us wanting to please Mr. Maloney so much! "Cyprus...Nicosia, Cyprus." is stuck in my head forever. He touched SO many lives and changed them for the better and we will always be grateful. Godspeed, Mr. Maloney.

Mr. Maloney was a Crawford family favorite.  We all adored him and learned so many valuable life lessons from him---most importantly that learning could be fun.  He taught in such a profound way that we retained so much of what he shared with us.  I vividly recall time spent in his classroom and all the fun we had and how much we actually learned.  I still know ALL my countries and capitals.  Earlier this year, I was telling my children (ages 9 and 7) how I remembered the capital of Syria and they loved the story as much as we all did back at St. Elizabeths!  The world will miss you--Mike!  You taught us all so much.

To the Maloney family my thoughts and prayers are with you.  Mr. Maloney was one of a kind.  "Capital Downs" were a blast -capital of Syria anyone?.  He cared for students and was a friend to many.  He had many sayings and the one that has stuck with me to this day that I have stolen at times was "Remember there is not a whole lot I don't know!"  He had those initials on the blackboard at St. Agnes.

He was an inspiration on many levels.  Whether it was introducing wide-eyed 8th graders to Pink Floyd or making learning state capitols fun he made going to school something to look forward to.  He will be missed and will not be forgotten.

Dear Maloney Family,  Mike made an incredible impact on so many of us.  I think I remember more facts from his history classes than from any other.  He always made us feel like valued and competent people.  We were blessed to have him even for a short time.  I am so sorry for your loss.

Boise I'd like another Idaho potato! I have a seriously ridiculous knowledge of capitals because of Mr Maloney. He is my favorite all time teacher and I am sad to hear of his passing.

So very sorry for your loss! He was one of my Jr. High teachers at St. Elizabeth.  He had a great sense of humor and made learning fun!!! I have told my children fun stories about his class.  He will not be forgotten.

Mike was the best teacher I have had...he was my inspiration to become an educator. He was an innovative teacher using best practices long before research called them "best practices."  Mike was a beloved teacher, friend and person. He will be missed by so many....

To The Maloney family,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss of your father.  He was my 8th grade teacher at St. Elizabeth and was one of a kind teacher. He made junior high a lot better for many kids.  I know he will be missed by many former students and all of his love ones.
