Although it has been two years, I still think about Mike's kindness. He gave me opportunities when I felt race played a part. He somehow made everything better in that area. I realized today you died on the day I got Ordained in 2014. Somehow, it's a sign to me that you are resting well. You sure are missed. I have reached out to Martha with no success. I hope she is okay.

"Mike, you were the most loyal of the loyalist. I tried to call after I emailed you, and I received a recording that the subscriber was unavailable. It was like a punch to the gut because I sensed something was wrong. I emailed a group of people you had pleaded for prayers with during a health scare and asked about your and Martha's whereabouts. That is when I learned of the news. Rest well, my friend. If there is a heaven after death, you are indeed there. I love you and will genuinely miss you and your kindness. I cannot locate Martha, but I hope her heart is comforted."

Mike Kelley was a neighbor of mine for many, many years.  He and Martha were always so friendly, kind and always willing to help If needed.

Mike was a faithful Catholic, prayed lots, went through several episodes of losing his first wife, a daughter and a couple sons which caused much grief.

I am confident that when he took his last breath, God accepted his soul for all eternity.   You are loved by many, Mike, and especially me.

Dear Aunt Martha, I was so very sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle Mike. It was a blessing to be able to see him a couple of months ago at the celebration of life for Alec and Aida.

What I will never forget about Uncle Mike is his kindness and beautiful smile. I loved how gentle he was, and how his stories and laugh were always so warm and welcoming. He was a role model and an example of goodness in this world.

Claudia and I along with Carmen and Diego are saddened to hear of the passing of Uncle Mike. We had such fun talking with him in Missouri. He had that special talent of telling stories that you never really knew if they were true or just another attempt at pulling our  legs! His love of family will always be a cherished memory and we will miss him dearly. All of our love to Aunt Martha and family. You will forever be in our hearts and in our prayers.

Shelley and I and our family will dearly miss Uncle Mike. He was a family favorite at reunions. He would ensure that he reconnected with everyone that he already knew, and he would introduce himself and get to know any family member that he had not yet met, or that he may have met before and forgotten. Uncle Mike and Aunt Martha were close with my parents, Alec and Aida,  in Houston, Texas and visited them often.  Like my brother, I also fondly remember the times that we played pool with Mike, my father Alec, and often also Uncle Rob, at a nearby open air Texan beer parlor/pool hall. Playing pool brought back lots of memories that Mike would share with us. It also was an opportunity for Mike to spark discussion on current events or social issues. We'd always take the bait and lively discussions would ensue. We miss and love you Uncle Mike.

Great Uncle Mike was a wonderful addition to the family and will be dearly missed. Thinking of and sending love and prayers to Martha and extended family through this loss. 

We were so saddened to hear of Uncle Mike's passing. He was a great guy, and always so much fun to around. I have such fond memories of us playing pool together, of us hanging out at his home with Aunt Martha, and of Martha and Mike's visits to us here in Texas. He always was so delightful with my parents, helping around their house when he could, and he shared so many important life events with us. Rest in Peace Mike, and prayers and love to Martha and all the family.

To Martha, my children and Mike’s surviving family member,
Mike was kind and honest, funny when needed and always loving.
I met Mike just after Christmas in 1978. His son John picked me up from the airport and we headed north to St Joseph so I could meet his family.  At dinner the next evening I asked Mike to pass the dinner rolls. He picked one up, licked the bottom of it and said, “this one?”, then picked up another one, licked it too and said, “or this one?”. I was told it’s ok, he likes you!
Many years later, after John and I had married, had 3 beautiful children and divorced, Mike assured me I would always be a part of the family.
I will miss his scruffy voice, his shaky hands and his concern for my well being. I am told he would ask my kids how I was doing.
