Michael J. Harrington

2014 at the Missouri Veterans Home. A memorial mass will be held at 10am, April 9, at Church of the Ascension, 9510 W. 127th Street, Overland Park, Ks. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7pm Tuesday, April 8, at McGilley State Line Chapel in Kansas City, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to the Missouri Veterans Home, 1300 Veterans Road, Warrensburg, Mo. 64093.

Michael was born on September 8, 1938 in Blencoe, Ia. He was a devoted Catholic, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He passed away after bravely battling Alzheimer's disease and was surrounded by his children. Michael was best known for his gregarious sense of humor and jovial manner. His love of singing Johnny Cash songs and doing karaoke contests were his favorite pastimes. Michael played baseball for Creighton and was a veteran of the United States Army.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Caroline A.

(Mittermeier) Harrington; his parents, Cletus and Margaret (Ryan) Harrington and his brothers Paul and John. He is survived by his children, Brenda, Cheri and James; his grandchildren Jacob and Sarah Gutowski, Connor and Kelsey Harrington; great-grandchildren, Logan and Lilly Gutowski; brothers Vincent, Raymond, Gerald, Lawrence, Dennis, James and sister Joan Rysavy.
