Michael "Mike" David Hanavan, 57, of Grandview, Missouri, passed away November 4, 2011 at Research Medical Center after a short illness. Memorial visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Mike was born December 26, 1953 in Kansas City, Missouri, son of William Allen and Mary Ann (Maleski) Hanavan. As a youth he was a pitcher in little league baseball. His team advanced to the championship round for the Kansas City area Little League World Series. Mike was in Boy Scout Troop 108 where he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout and his God and Country award. He was a hardway warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. By profession, he was a painter. He worked in Crown Center, painted houses along Ward Parkway and Hallbrook subdivision. He liked to hunt and fish and lived at the Lake of the Ozarks for a time. In 1998, he met Julie Warden, who shared the rest of his life with him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mike is survived by his sister Karen and husband Jim Bellah and two brothers Kevin and wife Kay Hanavan and Bill Hanavan. He also leaves two nephews, an aunt, extended family and friends.
