Melvin M. Hawks

Butch was born January 12, 1942 in KCMO to Melvin A. and Vera Nadine (Anders) Hawks.

Butch was a member of the Telephone Workers of America Union. He spent most of his working career as a telephone repairman, starting with Southwestern Bell and transitioned over to AT&T.

Butch married Nancy Sue Jurgeson on March 16, 1962 and from that union they had four children. Melvin C. Hawks and wife Phyllis, Donald D. Hawks, Traci A. Smith and husband Nelson "Lin" Smith and Edward K. Hawks.

Butch was preceded in death by his wife Nancy S. (Jurgeson) Hawks, his parents Melvin and Nadine Hawks, sister Gwendolyn Wilson, and grandson Gabriel L. Smith.

He is survived by his four children Melvin C. Hawks and wife Phyllis, Donald D. Hawks, Traci A. Smith and husband Nelson "Lin" Smith and Edward K. Hawks, grandchildren Jacob D. Smith, Levi Smith and Melissa S. Hawks and one great-grandson Julien L. Smith.

Visitation for Melvin will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a funeral service both at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131.
