Max was a patriarch of a loving family. Max was born December 28th, 1936 in Red Oak, Iowa to Paul and Mildred Isaacson, first generation Swedish immigrants. He attended a one room country schoolhouse, graduating with honors from Stanton High School in 1955. Max was a gifted athlete playing football, baseball, basketball and track in high school and later track in college. He did his undergraduate degree at Simpson College and obtained his master's at Drake University in Political Science. He completed his military career in the Army Reserve.
After a three-year teaching career, he was employed with the Social Security Administration as a claim's authorizer for 42 years. In retirement, he continued his life-long dedication to helping others in the missions. He began working for missions at Central United Methodist Church and then as a founding member of the Church of the Resurrection. He served as the first missions chair and enjoyed the usher team, men's club, bible studies, and Morning Star Sunday School. Max enjoyed his vegetable garden, and flowers, and loved his dogs.
He married Darlene Norton on August 10, 1961 and together they were blessed with 4 children Audrey Swaney ( Frank Swaney), Rhonda Mehl (Paul Redden), Wendy Ragan (Jeff Ragan), Andy Isaacson(Stephanie Isaacson). His beloved grandchildren are Ryan, Rachel, and Brooke McCullough, Collin, Lindsey, and Betsy Mehl, Will and Kate Ragan, and Madison Isaacson.
