Mary Patricia “Patsy” Walsh, age 71, passed away in the early morning hours of July 10, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Patsy had endured a short yet very difficult battle with cancer. She fought valiantly throughout her treatments but in the end was unable to beat the odds.
Patsy began her life on October 23, 1951. She was the fourth of eight children born to her parents, Finn Walsh and Mary Ita Moriarty Walsh, both from Ireland.
Patsy grew up in a very close-knit group of siblings, with three sisters and three brothers. She attended Our Lady of Good Counsel grade school in the Westport area of Kansas City then graduated from Loretto Academy with the class of 1969.
In the summer of 1970, Patsy moved to Atlanta, Georgia with her sister. She was instrumental in helping to establish a fitness start-up concept that grew across the country. After a brief stint in Atlanta, she was transferred to the Denver Colorado region. She remained in Denver for many years becoming an invaluable part of the team and enjoying all that Colorado had to offer.
Upon her return to Kansas City, Patsy became involved in the financial sector. She worked for several companies running their financial departments. She eventually was offered a position at EPCOR, a non-profit that works with over 1,800 banking institutions in 12 states. She was a vital part of EPCOR for well over 20+ years. She enjoyed the lasting relationships and friendships she cherished from those years.
Patsy was a beautiful soul full of life and laughter. Her unmatched sense of humor and wit always lit up the room. However, her greatest gifts were her immense compassion and generosity. She will be greatly missed by all of us who will cherish her memory. Not to mention how we will miss her white chocolate macadamia nut cookies. Always her contribution to any family gathering. They can never be duplicated.
Preceding Patsy in death were her parents Finn and Mary Walsh, sisters Eileen Teresa (infant), and Janie Walsh Bednar, and brother T.J. Walsh. She is also predeceased by Caitlin’s father, Patrick Meagher, who remained with Patsy as a lifelong treasured friend until his untimely death in June of 2015.
Patsy is survived by her daughter, Caitlin Walsh (Nick). In addition, are her siblings and their families: Kathleen (Michael) Fasone, Bill Walsh, Sheila (Mike) Meagher, and Michael Walsh. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews who to Patsy were her own. Each of these surrounded her with their love during her final days: Liz Bednar, Erin Bednar Cea (Dave), Katie Piper Elder (Tim), Joe Meagher, Brian Meagher (Lucia), Teresa Lingreen (Jason), Kyle Meagher (Julie), Finn Walsh, Liam Walsh (fiancé Alicia). She is also survived and adored by numerous family members in Ireland, Paris, London, and throughout the US.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Patsy on Saturday, July 29th from 1pm - 5pm at the Rockhill Grille – Crossroads, 2000 Grand Blvd, KCMO 64108 in the ‘The View Room’, located on the second floor. Please help us celebrate her and all the love, laughter and light she brought to so many.
