Mary Fleming Vannice was born to Joe and Dolores Fleming on April 22, 1949 in Kansas City, Mo and passed into the loving arms of her Savior on May 6, 2016. Mary graduated from St. Teresa’s Academy High School in 1967. She attended Junior College in Kansas City and Northwest Missouri State College in Maryville, Missouri before joining TWA airline as a flight attendant in l973 until 1989. During that time she met her husband, Bill, whom she married in 1979. Their son, Charlie, was born in 1981. Mary’s life changed completely when she started going to Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) in 1991. She attended 14 years studying God’s word and part of those years as a volunteer Children’s Leader and then as the Children’s Supervisor for 5 years. The love of children propelled her to apply at Colonial Presbyterian Preschool Program to work with Transitional Kindergarten kids until her own grandbabies were born and she decided to be a full time grandmother and a volunteer at the Healing House sharing God’s word with some of her favorite people. Throughout Mary’s life she has made lifelong friends. She treasured every friendship from grade school, high School, TWA, BSF and teaching Preschool. She was very humbled by their support especially during her time of illness. Her father, Joe Fleming, her brother, Joe Jr. (Mary Beth), her in-laws, brother in law, Jay Vannice, grandparents and many aunts and uncles predeceased her. She leaves behind her husband, Bill Vannice, Son, Charlie Vannice, (Angie) and her three beloved grandchildren, Abigail, John, and Thomas. Mother, Dolores Fleming. Sisters and Brothers, Kathleen Barry (John), Mike Fleming (Connie), Maureen Ingham, (Steve) Sharon Kennedy (Tim), Martha Fleming, Marty Fleming (Mary), sister in law, Mary Beth Fleming, Uncle Bill Fleming, Uncle Jim Vannice, Aunt Phyllis Hunter and many, many nieces and nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly. A visitation for all will be between 5 – 7 p.m. on Monday May 9 at Colonial Presbyterian Church at 9500 Wornall. The memorial service will be at the church the following day, Tuesday, May 10 at 10:00. Lunch will follow immediately in Fellowship Hall. Private Burial Service will be later for family only.
