Mary Sue was born in Kansas City, MO and attended Bishop Hogan High School. She was a life-long resident of Kansas City, MO. She spent many of her early years in the banking industry. Once she obtained her Missouri Insurance Department Agent and Broker license, she worked at the Robert E. Miller Insurance Agency as Asst. Vice President Surety Division. She took great pride in her work and deeply enjoyed the relationships developed throughout her career. She belonged to the National Association of Surety Bond Producers, and the Surety Underwriters Association of Kansas City for years.
During her retirement years, she enjoyed providing daycare for many small children, including her own great grandsons. She was their “GG” and they all brought tremendous joy to her life.
Family meant everything to her, and she added joy and laughter to family gatherings. She was quite a character, full of life and she loved to have fun! She and her husband were avid bowlers and enjoyed many trips around the country, traveling for bowling tournaments. She loved treasure hunting at estate sales, garage sales and craft sales. She enjoyed playing cards weekly with friends, and you could often find her at Bingo, having no trouble playing as many as 15 Bingo cards at a time.
She was a lifelong member of St. Elizabeth’s Church, and she loved her Church family and friends.
She is survived by her son David S. Wilcox of Kansas City, MO, and grandchildren Johnathan and wife Brandi Scaletty of Lee’s Summit, MO, Matthew Scaletty of Overland Park, KS, David S. Wilcox II and spouse Zachary Phillips of Belton, MO, and Stephanie and husband Zachary Warren of Rogers, AR. Her great grandsons, Maddox and Maclin were her “Sunshine”, and she was very excited for the upcoming birth of her third great grandson. She will be greatly missed by her immediate family, as well as her numerous nieces, nephews, their families and so many friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband David S. Wilcox, daughter Vickie S. Scaletty and parents, Roy H. & Arline M. Behm.
