Visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm on Thursday, November 2nd at McGilley State Line Chapel at 12301 State Line Road in Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 3rd at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to KC Hospice House.
Mary Ann was born in Kansas City on February 25, 1931 to Thomas J. and Mary E Ryan. She attended Hogan High School, and St. Teresa’s College (now Avila University). She worked for the Bell Telephone Company, T.W.A., and Rock Acres Lime Company in Lee’s Summit, MO. She also worked at Midwest Research Institute where she met Dr. Alfred F. Meiners, who became her husband October 12th, 1958. They were married for 53 years.
Throughout their married life, Mary Ann would be found taking care of her three children and volunteering in her children’s grade school. She will be forever known for her ability to encourage anyone that came into contact with her and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a woman of character, grace, charm and relentless optimism. She will be greatly missed by her family and her community at Homestead of Leawood assisted living.
She is survived by daughter Sarah Zilliox and husband Peter, daughter Amy Alexander and husband Steven and two granddaughters, Bailey and Reilly Alexander, and many relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, son, James Alfred Meiners and her brother, Thomas J. Ryan, Jr.
