Mary Delores McNellis

Mary Delores McNellis, 89, Kingsport, TN, formerly of Independence, MO, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Asbury Place, Kingsport, TN. Visitation will be Friday, November 7, 2014 from 9:00 – 10:30 AM at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 10010 E. 40 Hwy., Independence, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Delores moved from Clarence, MO to Kansas City, MO as a teenager. She worked for Ford Motor Company for many years, retiring to become a loving mother. Delores was married to Joseph McNellis and has now joined the love of her life 31 years after his death.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph McNellis, and parents, Mary & Clarence Rose. Also preceding Delores in death were her sister, Lola Parks (husband Ralph), and brother, John Kenneth Rose.

Delores is survived by her son, Dennis J. McNellis; daughter, Peggy McClain (husband Tim); grandchildren, Emily Sowash and husband Seth of Charlotte, NC, Erika McClain of Johnson City,TN and Lisa McClain of Charlotte, NC; great-grandson, Freddie Sowash, brother, Steve Rose (wife MaryEllen); sister Dorothy Klote (husband Harold); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A special thanks to the staff at Asbury Place at Steadman Hill, and to Amedisys Hospice, both of Kingsport, TN for their loving care and kindness.
