Mary B. McCoy, of Leawood, KS, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, peacefully at her home. Mary was born Jan. 25, 1936 in St. Louis, MO, to Bernard and Wilma Bock. After graduation from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1956, Mary moved to Kansas City where she worked for KU Med Center and was a surgical nurse at Trinity Lutheran Hospital. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her nephew Barry Paschang, and sister Collette Paschang. In 2006, she buried her beloved husband, Dr. Frederick J. McCoy. She and Fred had retired at the Lake of the Ozarks, where they enjoyed many years of boating as well as dancing to Lynn Zimmer and the Jazz Band with a group of dear friends. Aunt Mary was conservative before conservatism was cool. She loved God, her country, and many pedigreed canines as well as a few wayside waifs. She leaves behind cousins Nancy Porschen, Lake of the Ozarks, MO, Carla Schenk and Rich Moss of St. Louis, Betty Ray Browning, TX, Susie Moss, TX, Ray Moss, South Carolina, and Robert Moss, Montana, and George and Caroline Grant, FL. She is also survived by nephew Phil Paschang (Christi) KCMO, nieces Cathy Osborn (David) of Chesterfield, MO, Susie Joski, Overland Park, KS, and Christy Vopat (Tom) Leawood, KS, and all of their kids.

Good friend and longtime employee, Jan Sheafer, will miss spending time with Mary, but has adopted Miss Mani, the pampered cocker spaniel that brought joy to Mary as she became ill. Visitation is Saturday, Sept. 15, 9:30- 10:30 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m. Internment at Mount Moriah Cemetery.
