The two enjoyed 66 years of marriage together and raised eight children during that time. Mary Margaret was a devoted homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She hosted large holiday parties and celebrations; she was most happy spending time with her family.
Mary Margaret was an active member of her church, neighborhood and city. She and her husband were founding members of Cure’ of Ars Catholic Church as well as Brookridge Country Club. She loved playing bridge and was involved in various bridge clubs and was also an active member of the Ladies of Charity. Mary Margaret treasured her years at St. Teresa’s Academy and the University of St. Mary’s and remained an active booster and alumna throughout her life. During their retirement years, Mary Margaret and Bob volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital where they were recognized for volunteering for more than 4,000 hours. She also had quite the green thumb and relished gardening throughout her life, which was a hobby she passed down to her children. She enjoyed hours of reading and was often found with a good book in her hand.
Mary Margaret and Bob loved traveling the world together visiting places such as Hawaii, Mexico, Ireland and many other European destinations. They spent many vacations together with their children and grandchildren in the Lake of Ozarks where she loved to golf and enjoy the local attractions. The family has very fond memories of these annual vacations to the Lake.
With most of her children attending the University of Kansas, Mary Margaret became an avid Jayhawk fan. She could be found rooting for the Jayhawks at any time of the year. She also loyally followed all of the local Kansas City sports teams including the Royals and the Chiefs.
Her kind, sweet nature will be greatly missed by her family. Her quick wit and humor was enjoyed by all. Even with 19 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, Mary Margaret always made a point to connect with each of them. She took great pride in her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments.
