
Mary J. Jakobe, 85, died Sunday, February 6, 2011 from complications of a stroke. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City and was preceded in death by her parents; George A. and Edith M. Jakobe; a brother, George A. Jakobe, Jr., and a niece, Mary Patricia Jakobe-Gallegos. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law; Eugene and Marilyn Jakobe, and by a nephew; George A. Jakobe, III, nieces; Janet Jakobe Gray and Julie S. Benelli, all of the Kansas City area. Mary was a member of Christ the King parish in Kansas City. She had previously been employed by Business Men’s Insurance Company and was a secretary of George A. Jakobe, Co., Inc. She graduated from Redemptorist High School and attended the Kansas City Art Institute. Mary was a member of the Daughters of St. Vincent de Sales and a volunteer for the Red Cross. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities Hospice, 2220 Central Avenue, Kansas City, KS, 66102.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 10th, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8510 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
