Mary Avanell Hull, 84, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away December 6, 2012 at Hillside Village of DeSoto, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, at Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Baptist Church/Youth Ministry, 7416 Roe Avenue, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208. Mary was born September 16, 1928 in Charles City, Iowa. She was married to Thomas J. Hull in 1948, two years after graduating together from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa. Mary devoted her life to her family, raising six children while moving seven times in 14 years, from Iowa to Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Illlinois, Arkansas and back to Kansas, finally settling in Overland Park in 1968. As empty nesters, Tom and Mary moved to Shawnee, Kansas where they enjoyed their home together until failing health caused them to move to Hillside Village in De Soto, Kansas. Mary also dedicated herself to Prairie Baptist Church, where she and Tom were members for 44 years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gretchen Harden and father, Onia Harden of Leon, Iowa. Mary is survived by her husband, Thomas J. Hull of Hillside Village, De Soto, and six children, Kathy Mauge (Tom), Crossville, Tennessee; Pat Hull, Leawood, Kansas; Mary Davis (Marvin), Chandler; Arizona, Dr. Timothy Hull (Candy), Olathe, Kansas; David Hull, Beijing, China; Bill Hull (Karen), Ennis, Texas.
