Mary Elizabeth Hatfield

Mary Elizabeth Hatfield, 95, passed away Saturday Sept. 1, 2018. Funeral service will be Sat. Sept. 8, 2018 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City Missouri at 10 AM. Burial at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow at Floral Hills Funeral Home.

Mary was born Sept. 2, 1922 in Kansas City Missouri to Roy Budd and Nellie Owens. She was a long time resident of Lone Jack and Raymore Missouri. During the war Mary was “Rosie the Riveter” and worked as an electrician in the ship yards. She helped build her first house and did all the wiring. Mary took on many challenges such as returning to school and mastering the computer. She was a Cub Scout den mother and an excellent seamstress and quilter, often for charity. Mary loved to travel and on a cruise to the Holy Land she climbed all the steps in the catacombs at age 85. At 90 she rode a horse at her grandson’s ranch.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband F. Neal Hatfield. She is survived by son Larry and his wife Pat Hatfield. Grandchildren Mike, and his wife Debbie and Karen and her husband Dave, 4 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren. The family requests no flowers, however memorial donations may go to The Fellowship Of John, of Foxwood Springs and Multiple Sclerosis Assoc.
