Mary was born on May 21, 1927 to Blanche Lilah (Hemstock) and Edward Oliver Cooper in Marysville, Kansas. She had one older sister, Dorothy Marie Davis who preceded her in death.
Mary graduated with the Class of 1945 at Marysville High School. She went to St. Mary's College and graduated with her nursing degree. She worked in a small ten bed hospital in Marysville until she met the love of her life Matthew Walton Hall, III. They married in 1951 and relocated to Kansas City. Mary and Matt were blessed with five children - Judy, Jeanne, Susie, Matt and John.
Over the years they worked hard to cultivate a large family garden and orchard. Many hours were spent with the immediate family, extended family and neighbors shucking corn, snapping green beans, making applesauce and canning. The family has many happy memories during those times together.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Matt in 1993. After his passing, she volunteered as a chaplain at St. Joseph Medical Center. Her loving hands prayed with and for many, giving comfort and compassion that was needed during their hospital stays.
Mary had an open door for anyone that needed help with a place to stay, a warm meal or an ear to listen.
Mary retired to John Knox in 2017 and made many friends among the residents and staff. She never knew a stranger and brought sunshine to every room she entered.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Matthew, her daughter Susan Marie and her son John. Mary is survived by her children, Judy A. Clark and husband, Delbert, Jeanne Hall, and Matthew Walton Hall, IV, 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
