Mary Catherine (Burke) Franklin, age 89, passed away November 20, 2010 at Kingswood Manor. Mary Catherine was born July 5, 1921, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of George L. and Cressie M. (Hobbs) Burke, and was a life-long resident. Both of her parents, as well as her brother, Robert Hobbs, predeceased her. She was a member and Elder of the Ruskin Heights Presbyterian Church, a member of the Railway Business Women’s Association, a member of the Communication and Transportation Union, and also a member and Class Representative of the Manual Training High School Alumni Association. During World War II she was employed at the Lake City Ordnance Plant in the Superintendent’s office, Building No. 3. Later she was employed by the Kansas City Terminal Railway Company for 42 years as a Steno-Clerk Accountant in the Car and Engineering Departments. After retirement she was employed by Lorillard Company for several years. She is survived by two nieces, Pauline M. Herriman and Angelica Vrondos, and a number of cousins. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 2nd at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
