Mary was born in Kansas City, Missouri. She grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Northeast High School and attended Chillicothe Business College. Mary was the beloved wife to Carl (Joe) Coleman who preceded her in death on January 21, 2014. Mary and Joe married on January 19, 1952, and raised seven children, Michael, Mark, Paul, Melissa, John, Matthew, and Jeanine Marie. Their home was filled with love, laughter, and lots of food. Mary was a homemaker most of her adult life and occasionally worked outside of the home as a secretary, cocktail waitress, and service associate at Hancock Fabrics. Mary was also proud volunteer election worker for many years. She loved to feed and care for her family, read good books, and sew embroidery creations for her family and friends. Mary fiercely loved her Joe, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and animals. She was a fighter to the end and unapologetic about her devotion to her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Joe, her parents, George and Bernice Harrell, and her siblings, Lawrence, Virginia, and Rosalie. Surviving family members include seven children and their partners, 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two cats (Mr. Darcy and Charlie).
