Marvin D. Vawter, 94, of Kansas City, MO passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013. A Celebration of Life and Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 14th, 10:00 a.m., at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Overland Park, KS, with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m., followed by the Rosary. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Community Hospice, 9740 West 87th Street, Overland Park, KS, 66212.
Marvin was born on September 25, 1918 in Lexington, MO. He was a WWII Navy veteran in the Pacific Theatre. Marvin retired from the Bendix/Allied Signal/Honeywell, after twenty-five years of service. Marvin was active in the Society of Cincinnati and Sons of the American Revolution patriot organizations. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (council and degree), Mensa and a volunteer and instructor for Junior Achievement.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Bess F. Vawter (1983) and sister, Mary Katherine Lundell. He is survived by his three daughters, Elizabeth Hunziker (Gary) Plano, TX, Katherine Nash (Steve) Springfield, IL and Rozanne Siler (Todd) Overland Park, KS; sister, Ann Martin; seven grandchildren, Bill Nash, Amy Weinhoeft, Tim Nash, Melanie Curlett, Drew Hunziker, Amanda Siler, Jennifer McNiel and seven great-grandchildren.
