A visitation for Marvin will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Mt Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home and burial with full military honors at Mt. Moriah Cemetery following the funeral service.
Marvin was born September 6, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri, and was a lifelong resident of Kansas City. Marvin served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Enoree and participated in military campaigns around the world. Marvin was an electrician and member of IBEW Local Union #124.
He married Darlene Lou Stockholm in Kansas City, Missouri on April 17th, 1955 – together they raised three children. Marvin and Darlene started A&A Recycling before they purchased Wabash Iron and Metal and 12th Street Recycling, where they worked side by side to grow the family businesses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Alport and Anna (Hoskins) Alport, granddaughter, Taylor Alport Sprenger, wife, Darlene Lou (Stockholm) Alport, and son Jeffrey Lynn Alport. Marvin is survived by his daughters, Lisa Hereford, Julie Sprenger and husband, David, grandchildren, Kaley and husband, Isaac Tankel, Alyson, and Spencer Sprenger and Preston Hereford.
