Martha (Marty) Davis, 76, of Raytown, MO passed away following a heart attack in her home on Friday, January 15th. Funeral services will be Friday, January 22nd at Our Lady of the Presentation Church, 130 NW Murray Rd, Lee's Summit, MO 64081. Visitation at 10am, funeral service at 10:30am.
Marty was born in Independence, MO on March 20, 1944 and lived in Independence and Raytown throughout her life. She was baptized, married and raised her children at Blue Ridge United Methodist church where she was active in the choir and Sunday School groups. She graduated from Raytown High school (1962) and The University of Kansas (1966) where she earned a degree in Mathematics. She had her own business as a seamstress and wedding cake designer. Marty retired from AT&T after many years as a computer programmer.
Marty married her high school sweetheart, Terry, in 1966 and they raised two children. Marty loved to cook and bake for her family and will be remembered for her holiday fudge, unique birthday cakes perfectly designed for each loved one, homemade noodles, green beans and so much more. She also loved to sew for her family, making clothes, pillow, blankets, masks and more plus hemming more pants and dresses than we could possibly collectively count. Marty was devoted to her role as the grandchild taxi driver and attending every event she possibly could for her children and grandchildren including thousands of school plays, graduations, sporting events, confirmations, and more. Marty made sure we celebrated every family birthday every year, one way or another and she missed these gatherings during Covid more than anything.
Her loving memory lives on through her husband, Terry, children Karen Davis and DeeDee & David Naumann (Lee’s Summit), grandchildren Grace, Jacob, Joey and Emily, sisters Debbie Keeton (Raytown) and Kathy (& Bill) Hunter (Lincoln, NE), six nieces and nephews and eight grand-nieces and nephews. Marty is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Martha Keeton.
Marty loved her family well, she will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The American Heart Association, https://www.heart.org/en/get-involved/ways-to-give
