Marshaline Maxwell Morris was born in August 1934 to James and Mabel Maxwell. She grew up in Kansas City and attended Lillis High School, where she met and married her childhood sweetheart, Arthur Morris. They shared 53 years together before Art’s passing in 2006. Marsha was dedicated to the task of raising 7 children. She had a competitive spirit that she shared with her children. She taught them the love for sports and spent hours coaching, cheering and praising their victories while also healing their wounds of defeat.
She had many fond memories that included watching her children and grandchildren play volleyball and conduct “chicken fights” in the backyard pool of their family home. Her love for sun and water led to a 2-bedroom cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks where she was challenged with sleeping arrangements for kids and grandkids while Dad (Art) fell asleep cooking dinner on the grill.
Marshaline was a devout Catholic, leaning on her faith for strength through her struggle and loss of family. Volunteer work was her heart and joy. She spent many years devoting her time to the Visitation Altar Society, St. Thomas More and St. Joseph Medical Center.
Marshaline is preceded in death by her husband Arthur, parents James and Mabel Maxwell, brother James Maxwell, and two sisters Patricia Fayard and Mary Keeney.
Marshaline is survived by her sister Judy Honigman (Fred), her children Michelle Beck (Steve), Mike Morris (Melissa), Steve Morris, Patti Barackman (Chris), Teri Lippert (Brian), Robert Morris (Beth), Stephanie Morris (Katie), Jean Morris, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Little Sisters of the Poor for the love and care they provided during her final years there. In lieu of flowers, Marshaline requests donations be made to Little Sisters of the Poor.
