Services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, November 9 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to KU Medical Center School of Nursing or Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
Marilyn was born August 11, 1926 in McPherson, Kansas to Esther and DeWitte Brubaker. The family moved to Kansas City, Missouri before she was one year old. She graduated from Southwest High School in 1943 and attended Baker University. She graduated from Kansas State University and the University of Kansas School of Nursing with a B.S. in Nursing in 1948. She was a 50 year member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority & the Kansas University Nursing Alumni. She was also a member of Sigma Theta Tau, the National Nursing Honor Society, and the Methodist Church.
Marilyn played on ladies volleyball teams at Baker University and later with the "Kensington Moms" in Kansas City, Kansas. She also played tennis at Southwest High School. Marilyn enjoyed traveling and going on cruises.
Marilyn married Orville Eugene Moore in 1948 and they had 3 sons. She worked at the Missouri University Health Center in Columbia, Missouri while Gene was in school there - until he graduated in 1950. She also worked at the following places as a Registered Nurse: The Presbyterian Manor and Providence Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas and Delmar Gardens and Lakeview Village of Lenexa, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, of 27 years in 1975. Her son, William Robert Moore, died in 1989; her mother and father, Esther and DeWitte Brubaker, died in 1980 and 1981. Her brother, Dr. Gordon Leon Brubaker, died in 2002.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Eugene Moore, Tampa, Florida and James Patrick Moore, Olathe, Kansas, and her sister, Patricia Brubaker Landis, Denver, Colorado. Her grandchildren are Gena Michelle Moore and Timothy Michael Moore of Tampa, Florida, and Nicole Renee Sears and Jessica Christine Moore of Shawnee, Kansas. Her great-grandchildren are Colton Michael Boyers and Blayz Aleksander Beale of Tampa, Florida and Carter Edward Sears, Ava Lillian Sears, Vivian Faith Sears, Gabe Sears, Grace Leone Moore-Sherman and Everett Sage Moore-Sherman of Shawnee, Kansas.
