She was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on August 19, 1934 to Floyd Chapin and Jean (Frost) Chapin.
Marilyn retired as a claims supervisor for a trucking transportation company. In her early adult years, she was a stay-at-home mom and a part-time stenographer. Following her retirement from Jack Cooper Transport Co., she continued working into her early 80’s at T.J. Maxx and Petsmart in Kansas City, MO.
Marilyn is survived by her sister, Nancy Arnold; her two daughters, Kathleen Steiner (Ed) and Karen Johnson (Doug); and her son, Kevin Denny. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Floyd (Bud) Chapin, Jr., and grandson, Matthew Denny, as well as her longtime partner, Robert Frye.
Marilyn loved Jesus and was a member of Abundant Life Church in Lee’s Summit, MO.
To say Marilyn was an animal lover would be an understatement. She had a passion for caring for animals of all kinds, particularly cats, both her own, as well as any strays who might happen to cross her path. She also loved ballroom dancing. We envision she is now dancing away in heaven to her heart’s delight.
A private graveside ceremony will be held for the family at Mount Moriah Cemetery.
