Marie Louise Nichols

Marie is survived by her daughter Anita L. (Nichols) Swisher and Michael Swisher; her son Ronald A. and Tammy L. Nichols; brother Raymond H. and Karen L. Shumate; Grandchildren Jacob Swisher, Nathan Nichols, Andy and Renee (Swisher) Cassel, Benjamin and Hayley Nichols, Stephanie Swisher and Michael Borders; and five great granddaughters.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Wesley E. Nichols, Sr., son Wesley E. Nichols, Jr. (Gene), parents Samuel & Evelyn (Hale) Shumate, and three brothers.

Marie was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 10, 1931. She married the love of her life on March 28, 1951, and had a 42 year union until Wes’ death on February 16, 1994.

Marie was an active member, leader and teacher at First Baptist Church of Shawnee and an accomplished business woman, working with both her husband and son-In-law. She lived her life first dedicated to the Lord Jesus Christ, serving family, friends and wherever Christ led her. Marie led a full and active life and was ready to be called into the Glory of her loving Savior and reunited with her beloved Wes.

Her family is left behind with a full and heavy heart and is thankful to Good Samaritan Nursing Home for their loving care which both enriched and prolonged Marie’s life.
