Maria (Maya) Ptasnik, 91, died peacefully on December 8, 2010, The Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Maya moved to Kansas City in 1950 and was a longtime member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She was born in Augsburg, Germany on April 25, 1919. She spoke so often of her homeland, the Bavarian Alps and her appreciation of being outdoors to enjoy God’s beautiful creations. Maya was preceded in death by the “love of her life”, Paul, her husband for 51 years. She is survived by her nephew, Sten Fersing, Grand Isle, Vermont; grand-nephews, Kyle and Derek; grandniece Kirsten; and devoted friends and care companions; Nick Ruppert, Sherri Loar and Phil Lytle. Many other dear friends will remember her faithfulness and her kindness. Maya’s loving, generous heart touched many lives. She was a volunteer at St. Joseph Medical Center for 24 years, and her warm, sociable spirit were attributes that endeared her to everyone she met. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 85th & Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri, with burial following at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, P.O.
