Margie Lee Shackelford

June 11, 1932 – December 21, 2022

Margie (Marge) Shackelford, 90, of Independence, MO, went to join the Lord on December 21, 2022 at The Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence, MO. A gravesite service for family and friends will be held at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lee’s Summit, MO on Thursday, January 12, at 2:30 p.m.

Marge was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma and lived there until she was eleven years old. Her family moved to Independence, MO in 1942. Marge met Hubert (Herb) Shackelford at church and they were married in 1950. They were together for 58 years until Herb passed in 2006. Marge worked for the Independence Gas Service Company, served as a real estate agent and worked for Kaiser Permanente until her retirement in 1999. Marge had a beautiful voice and sang in Sweet Adelines and her church choir in her younger years and always loved music. Marge was a devout Christian and practiced her faith daily. Marge made many friends throughout her life and always had kind words and helping hands for everyone she met.

Marge was the mother of five, grandmother to 10 and great grandmother to 18 children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Faye Fronkier, husband, Herb, brothers Elton and Jim Fronkier, sons, Steve and Doug, daughter Jan (Whitney) and grandson (Donnie). She is survived by her daughter, Margie Ann Thomas (husband Jerry) son, Jeff (wife Deborah), and daughters-in-law Connie Shackelford and Pam Kenefake.
