Margaret Lucille "Lucy" Kiefer

Margaret Lucille “Lucy” (Calhoun) Kiefer 91, Altamont, MO, passed away March 20, 2017 at the Excelsior Springs Nursing & Rehab Center in Clay County, MO. Visitation is Wed. March 22 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO. Funeral Service is Thur. March 23 at 10:30 AM, at the same location. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.

Lucy was born February 26, 1926 to Glen M. and Mayme R. (Wilder) Calhoun. Lucy enjoyed gardening; sewing; cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She developed an interest in decorative painting, which lead to her passion for Norwegian Rosemaling. Lucy became a published authority of her craft after becoming a student at the Norwegian Rosemaling Museum in Decorah, IA where she took classes from Norwegian Master Artisans and received recognition for original designs as well as her painted pieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Paul A. Kiefer; daughters Linda L. Kramer and Monica J. Kiefer; and son Mark S. Kiefer.

Survivors include her brother Billy J. Calhoun; two sisters Evelyn Kenney and Charlotte Wilson; her children, Susan D. Kiefer, Sally A. (John) Gummeson, Lori L. (Wayne) Mathis, Paul M. Kiefer, Kevin P. Kiefer, Cary J. Kiefer, and Kristina M. (Chris) Little; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
