She was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, great grandmother and a business woman. Marcia moved to Kansas City when she was very young with her mother. She graduated from Raytown South High School in 1966.
In 1966 she married her first husband David Peterson, moved to Independence and had 4 girls. She was a member of the United Eastern Democrats for many years. In 1992 she moved to St. Joseph, MO. In 1996 she moved back to Independence, shortly after she remarried and moved to Louisburg KS. She moved back to Independence in 2020 to be closer to family.
Her family was everything to her. She loved her great grandson Kobe and taking care of him, he was her light. She loved to laugh, travel and have a good time and truly enjoy life to the fullest.
She worked for Sears Roebuck & Co from 1967 to 1978 where she held various positions then at H&R Block from 1981 to 2005 where she held various positions from Management Reporting System Specialist to Franchise Director. After retiring from H&R Block she opened two floral shops, one in Louisburg KS and Paola KS. In 2020 she finally retired and sold the shops.
Marcia was preceded in death by her mother Loucille McCoart, brother Patrick McCoart, husband David Peterson and daughter Dana Peterson.
Marcia is survived by husband Roy Dodson of KS (second marriage), daughter Wendie Peterson of Independence, daughter Rhonda Mc Elwee of Independence, daughter Jill Peterson of Osawatomie, brother Michael (Dianne) McCoart of Blue Springs.
Marcia had two grandsons Tyler Peterson and Michael Mc Elwee, two grand daughters Haley Peterson and Madison Peterson, one great grandson Kobe Collier, Seven nephews and three nieces.
