M. Jeanne Roberts Landau, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home on July 13, 2011. She was a professional dancer in New York in 1939 and 1940, as member of the “Three Jays”, Jimmie, Jack and Jeanne. During World War II, Jeanne helped organize and take shows to the Ft. Leavenworth and Salina airbases, as well as performed in many state fairs and USO shows. Jeanne taught dancing for 35 years at her studio located at 63rd and Brookside and later in her home. She choreographed for the Junior League Cowtown Carnival in connection with the American Royal, the Young Matrons show “Brother It’s Up To You” and the T.W.A. Frantic Follies. She danced in Kansas City’s Jubilests and taught the Botar Waltz in the 1930’s. Jeanne was a member of the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters. She shared her loved of dance with others. Jeanne was an active member of Leawood United Methodist Church since 1959. She was active in UMW, a women’s circle leader, taught exercise classes and worshipful movement, and choreographed dances for young girls for the annual mother-daughter banquets. She also performed with the hand bell choir and Silver Notes. She will be remembered at the church always through the donation to provide the church the Landau Library. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Marcus B. Landau. She is survived by her children Dr. Les M. Landau, Dr. Leanne and Rodney Kasitz, Ruth Vano, JD and The Honorable James Vano; her grandchildren Luke and Erin Landau, Mike and Nicole Landau, Andy Landau, Kyle Landau, Marcus Kasitz, Kaleb Kasitz, Curtis Kasitz, Isaac Vano, Glenna Vano, Anne and Dan Dillon, Janelle Vano, Emily Vano; and great-grandchildren Sabrina Vano, Beckett Dillon, Teague Dillon and Sullivan Dillon. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Interment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
