Lucy Christina Haverkamp Weber, was born on April 22, 1923 to Clement Lawrence Haverkamp and Catherine Mary Hoefler Haverkamp. She was a farmer’s daughter who walked to a one room school and liked telling her children about the snow up to the fence posts and how she would light the potbellied stove before the teacher got there after she had squeezed through a window in the crawl space. She loved growing flowers and gardening. She canned all her produce and many times returned to her family members’ farms to help with the harvest. Sewing for her family was one of her many talents. She was also an “original from scratch” cook who made delicious dinners and fabulous pies and cakes. She was a true homemaker in every sense of the word. Lucy married Leonard Theodore Weber on December 30, 1944 and they celebrated 63 years of marriage before Leonard’s death in 2008. They were faithful Catholics and trusting in God’s providence sent their four children through Catholic schools. After Leonard’s retirement they enjoyed winters in Texas, Florida, or Arizona. In those years, they also traveled to Canada, Alaska, Europe, and many places in the United States.
Lucy and Leonard were blessed with four children, Mary A. (Tom) Strahan, William L. (Kris), Joyce A.(Dennis) Randall and Thomas J. (Cindy); 10 grandchildren, Matthew and Alex Strahan, Malinda Maddox, Erin Tenzer, Gretchen Vigilante, Katie Rutledge, TJ Randall, and Lauren, Michael, and Christopher Weber; 7 great grandchildren, Indiana, Cheyanne, Evan, Julia, Lily, Emma, and Olivia, all of whom survive her. Lucy is also survived by two sisters, Gladys Carr and Evelyn Jamvold. Leonard left her on September 17, 2008 and she joined him for eternity on January 11, 2017. May God rest their souls.
