Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm at the same location.
Lois was born October 14, 1925 in Ottumwa, IA to Paul Gardner and Alma (Dooley) Gardner. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1942 and was married in 1943 to R. Harold Scully. In 1950 they relocated to Independence, MO where they lived the rest of their lives.
She was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church (now known as Grace Church Independence). She worked for Montgomery Ward until she retired in 1985 as an accounting supervisor.
In retirement she enjoyed extensive travel throughout the US in their “jitney” RV. She was an avid reader, and also pursued numerous crafts including cross-stitch and ceramics. She became very active in pursuit of genealogy family history.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Alma Gardner, and by her husband Harold.
Survivors include a son, Alan Scully (Shirley) of Summerville, SC, a daughter, Jolene Scully of Kansas City, four granddaughters, Keri Goodfriend (Jason) of Aldie, VA, Erin Holm (Andrew) of Charlotte, NC, Ashley Piane (Charles) of Independence, MO, and Taylor Benter (Michael) of Blue Springs, MO. She is also survived by five great granddaughters and one great grandson.
Special thanks to the caregivers of Visiting Angels and to Kansas City hospice for their marvelous assistance in her last few months.
